The state finalist films were shown at the theater followed by the presentation of awards. Nocona High submitted “Zooport,” traditional animation and “NUMB,” a narrative film. Schools are split into two divisions, 1A-4A and 5A-6A. Students create films in four categories: Narrative, documentary, computer/digital animation and traditional animation.
Rob Norman, program instructor, said they received a second in both films, explaining in animation it came down to a tie on placement, which then went to judge’s preference which put “Zooport” in second. Norman added in the semi-final round the film beat the first place film by all three judges.
