The Bowie boy’s basketball team lost a low scoring game at Aledo on Friday.

The Bearcats won 45-23 in a game where neither offense totally got going. Playing an athletic and big 5A program, the Jackrabbits were already at a disadvantage. Aledo’s man-to-man defense with its physical guards and tall post players did proved challenging from the start for Bowie to score against. This allowed the Bearcats to get out to the lead 14-5 in the first quarter. On the flip side, the Jackrabbits outscored Aledo in the second quarter, limiting the Bearcats to only five points.

Unfortunately, Bowie only scored seven points, not cutting into the lead as much. Still, trailing only 19-12 at halftime, it was anyone’s game if either offense woke up.

The Jackrabbits did not help themselves in the third quarter scoring only one point. The Bearcats went back to their first quarter scoring pace, scoring 13 points in the next two quarters each.

Bowie finished strong scoring in double-digits in the fourth quarter, mostly through free throw shooting. It was not enough to catch back up as Aledo won 45-23.
