Cruisin’ Nocona rolls out Friday

Kick off spring with the 9th annual Cruisin’ Nocona this weekend on May 6-7.
The Nocona Chamber of Commerce has created a weekend of activities geared for car and motorcycle lovers of all types or those who enjoy a community festival.
The Cruisin’ Nocona Poker Run opens the event at 10 a.m. on Friday taking participants on a 120-mile road trip through the picturesque “North Texas Hill Country,” complete with a lunch stop at a local winery. The lunch stop includes a sandwich, chips, cookie and bottled water. Additional lunch tickets may be purchased for $20 each.
Poker run registration is from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. at the H.J. Justin Community Building at 100 Clay Street.
Early-bird registration is $50. Register at the chamber office at 304 Clay #3 or online at Nocona.org/events/, where you can download the form. After April 25 the cost is $65. There will be on-site registration the day of the event. The cost includes a Cruisin’ Nocona T-shirt, a goody bag and ticket for cruise lunch.

Bowie fish fry to assist youth fair sales on Jan. 4

Enjoy a fish fry and live music concert on Jan. 4 all to support the 4-H and FFA youth of Montague County as they compete in the annual youth fair.
The annual Bowie fish fry for the Bowie buyers group will begin serving at 5:30 p.m. at the Bowie Community Center. Cost is $10 per plate. There will be a live auction at 7 p.m.
The evening’s concert will feature Dax Davis. Live music begins at 8:30 p.m. with the Davis concert at 9:30 p.m. Cost for the concert is $25 per ticket and $20 for a student, or $300 for a reserved table for eight.
