Hanging of the Greens this Saturday
Christmas season is near when the evergreen and wreaths go up in downtown Bowie.
Hanging of the Green will be at 10 a.m. on Nov. 18. Volunteers helping hang the decorations are asked to meet at city hall, where after a brief lesson on how to hang the garland, lights and wreaths, they will pan out to decorate downtown.
Bowie Community Development is coordinating the decoration day as helpful holiday elves decorate nearly 100 lamp posts throughout downtown Bowie using garlands, lights, wreaths and bows. It is all in preparation for the Dec. 2 Fantasy of Lights Christmas Festival.
Any citizen, student, civic group or club is invited to take part. Those with questions may call the BCDB office at 872-6246.

Bowie Public Library’s Summer Reading program continues on July 16 with the Olympics.
It will be all about the upcoming Summer Olympics with outdoor games at the soccer field. Summer reading wraps up with the popular Creature Teacher on July 23 who brings lots of animals to the kids to see up close.

Summer reading is open to children ages 0-12. Keep a summer reading log and earn a book.

Nocona Library’s Summer Reading program continues at 10 a.m. on July 17 at the Justin Building at 100 Clay Street.
The program will be space adventures and include a demonstration of a drone. Make plans to attend.
