Bowie Chamber of Commerce banquet on Jan. 25

The Bowie Chamber of Commerce will have its 124th Annual Awards Banquet, on Jan. 25 in the Bowie Community Center.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the dinner will be at 6 p.m.
The evening’s activities include recognition of the chamber directors and newly elected officers, plus awards for Large Business of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Non-Profit and Young Entrepreneur.
Awards will be capped off by the award for Citizen of the Year that recognizing one individuals’s efforts to improve the community.
Tables will be lavishly decorated by chamber members with awards given for first-third place. Chamber member, Vicki Howard from Vic’s Kitchen prepare and serve a delicious Italian dinner feast.
Tickets to this year’s banquet are $35 in advance or $40 at the door. Purchase you tickets at the chamber of commerce office at 1616 E. Wise Street, Suite C.
Seating is limited so purchase your tickets early or call Sheila Slattery, Executive Director at (940) 872-1173 to make your reservation.

Bowie, Nocona libraries wrap up summer reading this week

Local libraries wrap up their children’s summer reading programs this week.
The Bowie Public Library brings the popular Creature Teacher with all their spectacular animals for the final event on July 23 at the Bowie Community Center.
The program begins at 10 am. The children also will receive their prize books for their summer logs.
The Nocona Public Library ends its program at 10 a.m. on July 24 at the H.J. Justin Building at 100 Clay Street. The program will be “Our Own Action Heroes -” Nocona fire, police and EMTs.

Youngsters attend swimming lessons this week
