The Saint Jo High School football team will open the 2017 season with three straight home games.
And that’s much to new head coach Derek Schlieve’s liking.
“With a young team, you want to be in a familiar environment,” Schlieve said. “We have a lot of new kids starting out.”
Many of the boys from the undefeated junior high school team will be ninth-graders – joining a group including Blake Anderson, Preston Lyons, Ethan Wagner and others.
Saint Jo will take on Tioga on Sept. 1, followed by McKinney’s Cornerstone Christian Sept. 8 and the Chillicothe on Sept. 15. All three games will take place at venerable Harley Sewell Field with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
Then the Panthers travel to games at Vernon Northside (Sept. 22) and Savoy (Sept. 29). Read more in the June 17 Bowie News.
