Published

on

Three newly-elected members, plus a new mayor took the oath of office last week for the Bowie City Council, but there remains one vacancy.
Applications for citizens interested in filling the vacancy in the precinct one north seat are now being accepted.
The seat was previously filled by Gaylynn Burris who was appointed to fill the place of Scott Davis in June when he was named to fill the term when the former mayor resigned. Burris ran unopposed for mayor and took her post last Thursday.
The applicant must have resided in the north precinct for at least six months and be a registered voter.
The city council has 30 days in which to fill the position. The appointee would serve the one year left on the term. Applications are available from the city secretary or call 872-1114, ext. 21.
