Easter Egg hunts planned across the county

There will be a lots of Easter Egg Hunt fun across the county this weekend.

Advanced Rehabilitation will conduct an egg hunt 3:30 to 5 p.m. on April 3. The Easter Bunny also will be there for photos.

A community Easter egg hunt coordinated by Lighthouse Church in Bowie will take place at 11 a.m. on April 4 at the soccer fields at Pelham Park.

Youngsters are invited to hunt for eggs at age-specific fields to search for more than 50,000 candy and prize eggs.

The hunt includes i a grand prize egg containing a $200 gift card to Toy-R-Us. The Easter Bunny also will be on hand for photos.

In Saint Jo, the Easy Street Animal Shelter will have an egg hunt at 10 a.m. on April 4 at Boggess Park.

Children fifth grade and under are invited to participate.

Local Girls Scouts will have baked goods for sale and shelter volunteers will do dog nail trimming for a $5 donation starting at 8:30 a.m.

There also will be face painting and T-shirts for sale.

Post-pandemic world changes all marketing

The big take-away from Tuesday’s Bowie Business Boost was time: “It only takes six seconds to make an impression in life.”
Lorie Vincent, certified economic developer, professional trainer and writer, was speaker for program number three of Bowie Boost with a focus on “Memorable Marketing in a Post-Pandemic Era.”
She opened about how she had started her business, ‘Acceleration by Design,’ and things were “rocking,” when 2020 came and things changed with the worldwide pandemic. As things began to reopen it appeared there were more opportunities but also more challenges.
Vincent laughed as she showed a Richard Simmons “Sweating to the Oldies,” infomercial that became one of the most popular and still running ads.
“Can you believe back then we would call a 1-800 number and give someone our credit card? That is crazy. They used big music, big voices and big adjectives,” exclaimed Vincent.
