Bowie Memorial Hospital celebrates Hospital Week with an open house

A hospital is more than a place where people go to heal, it is a part of the community that fosters health and represents hope. Hospitals are central to a healthy and optimistic community.

That is the message of the 2015 National Hospital Week theme “Where Miracles Happen Every Day.”

This theme is the centerpiece of a campaign aimed at uniting health care facilities across the country during the May 10 – 16 celebration.

“National Hospital Week, first and foremost, is a celebration of people,” said Lynn Heller, interim CEO of Bowie Memorial Hospital. “BMH is extremely proud of each member of our staff and we recognize the important role they play in extending a sense of trust to our patients and our community.”

An open house on May 12 will one of the week’s highlights at Bowie Memorial Hospital. The public is invited to attend from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to take part in the activities.

Post-pandemic world changes all marketing

The big take-away from Tuesday’s Bowie Business Boost was time: “It only takes six seconds to make an impression in life.”
Lorie Vincent, certified economic developer, professional trainer and writer, was speaker for program number three of Bowie Boost with a focus on “Memorable Marketing in a Post-Pandemic Era.”
She opened about how she had started her business, ‘Acceleration by Design,’ and things were “rocking,” when 2020 came and things changed with the worldwide pandemic. As things began to reopen it appeared there were more opportunities but also more challenges.
Vincent laughed as she showed a Richard Simmons “Sweating to the Oldies,” infomercial that became one of the most popular and still running ads.
“Can you believe back then we would call a 1-800 number and give someone our credit card? That is crazy. They used big music, big voices and big adjectives,” exclaimed Vincent.
