BOWIE – Margie “Inez” Adams, 78, passed away May 6, 2015 in Bowie, TX.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. May 10 at The White Family Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. May 11 at the First Baptist Church of Sunset. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Bowie.
Inez was born July 5, 1936 in Bonita to Albert “A.R.” and Goldie (Masten) Hatfield. She graduated from Henrietta High School in 1954 and married Odous Adams on June 5, 1954 in Bowie.
In 1962 they opened Adams Greenhouse and Fruit Stand in Bowie on Hwy 101 and later moved out to Hwy 287 until they retired in 2013. In 2013 Inez Adams received recognition for her years of hard work in the agriculture industry through the Enduring Women Exhibit at the Bob Bullock State museum in Austin.
She was honored along with 24 other women from around Texas by having her life story recorded, photographed and displayed during a month long exhibit at the museum.
In February of 2013 Inez traveled to Austin where she attended a special preview of the exhibit with several family members. She enjoyed gardening.
Inez is survived by her husband, Odous Adams; daughters, Vicki McDaniel and husband Larry, Bowie, Velda Bates and husband Allen, Decatur, and Vonda Hood and husband Len, Sunset; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; brothers, Jimmy Hatfield, Bowie and Willie Hatfield, Nocona; sisters, Helen Harris, Wichita Falls, Jeraldine Maddox, Henrietta and Patsy Curtright, Apache, OK; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to The White Family Funeral Home of Bowie.
