By Roger Cade Hamilton, eighth grader at BJH
This week the eighth grade students began reading “Flowers for Algernon,” a story about a mentally handicapped man in 1960 undergoing surgery to become smarter.
The Cottontails took on the Henrietta Bearcats this week. The seventh and eighth graders both returned victorious from their first football game Thursday night. The eighth graders won 36-12 while the seventh graders won 20-0.
The eighth grade A volleyball team won but the others lost.
The students also had spirit week and ended with a pep-rally for the homecoming game Friday night at the high school. Tuesday was camo day, Wednesday was patriotic, Thursday was cap day, and Friday was maroon out.
BJH also had an organizational meeting for the LEO Club. Mrs. Gill is the new teacher sponsor and said that more than 60 students attended the meeting! It was a great week at Bowie Junior High!
