Bowie NIE 2015 Week 7

By Bowie Junior High GT Students
This week in the Bowie Junior High Week in Review we are proud to share the accomplishments of some of our peers.
Bowie Junior High students in Stacey Sides’ class recently participated in an essay contest sponsored by the Red River Optimist Club. The topic of the essay was “What My Grandparents Mean to Me.” Four of her students: Hailey Davis, eighth grade; Eric Jaraleno, sixth grade; Dayne Reed and Hailie Hachtel, both seventh grade, entered. They all won first place! The Red River Optimist Club also named Stacey Sides as their Educator of the Year for 2015.
Ms. Sides said, “My students were the first special needs class to ever enter this contest.
They were then, along with their grandparents, invited to attend a banquet in Wichita Falls where they read their essay, enjoyed an awesome meal, received medals, a certificate and a flower to present to their grandparent.”
Thirteen schools in the Wichita Falls area were represented.
At the same banquet, Ms. Sides received her award. A brief background of her family and education career were given as she accepted her award.
The students and staff of Bowie Junior High are proud to be represented by Ms. Sides and her students! What a successful week it has been at BJH!
