Local artist’s work to be featured in the Bowie Library

The Bowie Public Library is featuring artist Gale Cochran-Smith opening with a reception from 5-6:30 p.m. March 3 at the library. Cochran-Smith has been the president of the Chisholm Trail Artist Association since 2009 and is a member of the Big Country Art League. She has also co-written, “Memories Along the Chisholm Trail,” and “Reflections in Two Voices.” She has illustrated a children’s book called “The Cowgirl Who Wants To Ride Buckers.” Cochran-Smith owns Shadow Ridge Graphics, which creates websites and marketing materials for local small businesses, artist, authors and organizations.

Work begins on pickleball court water, electric utilities

Crews from the City of Bowie Electric and Water Department were at work later this week beginning the installation of water lines and lighting at what will be the new pickleball courts located in the green metal shed on the animal section of Second Monday grounds. The courts are being built by the Bowie Economic Development Corporation, and this utility work is part of an in-kind contribution from the city. (courtesy photos)
