BOWIE – Bobby (Bob) Sim Briggs, 85, died on June 25, 2016 in Decatur, Texas.

Briggs was born in Sunset to Vernor and Bernice Briggs on May 20, 1931. He went to school in Bowie and Loveland, CO.
He married Virginia Dafeldecker in 1951 in New Mexico while home on leave from the Navy. He worked as a truck driver beginning at the age of 14 for several companies including Transcon.
He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the Navy as Gunners Mate 3 Class aboard the USS Wedderburn. He was involved in the local chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars where he served as president. He was also on the board of the Sunset Cemetery Association.
Bob is preceded in death by his wife Virginia, his parents, his sister Betty Paul and his daughter Wendy.
He is survived by daughters, Patti Briggs, Linda Briggs and Jacqueline Briggs; sons, Bobby Briggs and Kenny Briggs; brother, Ron Briggs; nine grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
