The Forestburg High School football team will open the 2016 with three straight road games.
It’s the kind of test head coach Wayne Tuckwell relishes.
“It doesn’t bother me at all,” the coach commented. “Strawn was a late addition to the schedule.”
The Longhorns will take on Notre Dame in Wichita Falls on Aug. 26, with Strawn to follow at Sept. 2 and then at Weatherford Christian on Sept. 9.
Next up, Forestburg plays four straight weeks at home – which eventually leads into the District 12-I-1A slate on Oct. 7 against traditional powerhouse Newcastle.
One of the challenges for Forestburg is the schedule itself. As the Longhorns evolve into a stronger program, it’s becoming tougher to find teams that want to play them.
On Sept. 16, Gordon visits Forestburg for its first home date of the season, followed by the Homecoming game versus Fort Worth private school Nazarene Christian on Sept. 23 and then Savoy on Sept. 30. Read more, including see a complete season schedule, in the July 2 Bowie News.
