OUTDOORS: TPWD drawn hunts near

Hunters begin making plans for the upcoming seasons by applying for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s drawn hunts.
The online system is currently accepting applications, and the first hunt category deadline is less than one month away.
This year, there are more opportunities available than ever before – with additional hunts on public and private lands consolidated into the TPWD’s online application system.
For instance, there is a new dove hunting category featuring slots on prime private dove fields.
There are hunts for white-tailed and mule deer, pronghorn, exotics, turkey, alligator and desert bighorn sheep.
The system now includes applications for hunts administered by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service National Wildlife Refuge and antlerless deer permits from the U.S. Forest Service.
All hunts may be viewed by category on the TPWD website using an interactive map. Read more from the outdoors notebook in the July 16 Bowie News.
