Commissioners to consider budget Monday

Montague County Commissioners will consider adopting the 2016-17 budget and tax rate for 2016 when they meet at 9 a.m. on Aug. 22.

A called meeting will be at 8:45 a.m. Monday for the public hearing on the budget.

The court has been whittling away at the budget for several months trying to reduce expenses to meet a projected revenue shortfall. Proposed budget expenses are $11,870, 856 with revenues of $12,084, 937.

The proposed tax rate is .5097 cents per $100 in property value. This also is the effective rate which is the rate needed to generate the same amount of revenue as the previous year. The 2015 rate is .41540 cents.

The agenda includes 11 tax bids for various properties in Nocona Hills, Oak Shores and Silver Lakes Ranch.

Other items will include: A memo of understanding between Indigent Healthcare Solutions and Montague County; copier contract for the AgriLife office; and county treasurer monthly reports.
