Montague School youngsters ‘relay’ for ACS

The fifth annual Montague ISD Eagle Relay for Life was on March 10 in the school gym.
Event coordinator, Sandy Owens welcomed parents and guests before introducing American Cancer Society Community Manager Teri Tolbert and Montague County Relay for Life Event Chair Sheri Reeves.
Jackie Hanna gave a brief history of the relay which began in 1965 in Tacoma, WA. Tolbert and Reeves were then joined by Stacy Mazza and her son, Wyatt, for the survivor lap. Those attending stood and applauded ithese ladies and all cancer survivors. Caregivers were applauded as well.
A luminary ceremony followed in the darkened silent gym as Laramie McCarty read names honoring 35 survivors who are battling or have battled cancer.
