Bowie School Trustees will vote on the proposed District of Innovation Plan in a called meeting at 5:30 p.m. on May 30.
The board met in regular session at 7 a.m. on Monday handling an agenda filled with updates and reports.
Superintendent Steven Monkres said the DIP Committee has finalized the draft plan and presented it in a public hearing on May 2. There was a unanimous vote by the committee and the District Improvement Teams for the plan.
Through a District of Innovation designation a district will be exempt from certain sections of the Texas Education Code that inhibit the goals of the district as outlined in its locally adopted innovation plan.
A local plan will remain in effect for a period of five years once adopted.
