The thud of a volleyball from a smashing hit could be heard all throughout Montague County on Tuesday.
It marked the official start for practice, as dictated by the University Interscholastic League. Football and cross country still have a few days before their training sessions begin on Aug. 7.
“We are starting fast and furious,” said Nocona head volleyball coach Tiffany Clay. “I’m excited to see the girls at work and what this season has in store.”
Clay said the Lady Indians, who finished just short of qualifying for the playoffs a season ago, are practicing twice per day until Thursday.
Session One is from 7 to 10 a.m. (with conditioning and volleyball) and then Session Two runs from noon to 3 p.m.
Bowie’s sessions are today and tomorrow from 8-11 a.m. and then 1-3 p.m. There will be setter-specific practices from 3-3:45 p.m.
The Lady Indians will scrimmage in Graham on Friday – as will Bowie. The Lady Indians will travel to Gainesville for a scrimmage on Saturday, while the Lady Rabbits are home for a six-team scrimmage. Read more in the Aug. 2 Bowie News.
