Welcome reception Monday for new Nocona ISD superintendent

Dr. David C. Waters

Nocona Independent School District welcomes Dr. David Waters and his family with a reception from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 16 prior to the board meeting at 7:30 p.m.
The reception will be in the central office located at 220 Clay Street.
Waters was named the lone finalist on Sept. 25 and per state law the district must wait 21 days before it can officially offer him a contract. That topic is scheduled for the Monday night agenda.
Waters takes over for Dr. Vickie Gearheart who retires after 12 years of leading NISD. She will be working with Waters during the transition.
The new superintendent comes to Nocona from Llano ISD where he has been assistant superintendent since 2013. Waters and his wife, Kristen, have two children Kyle, and Erin. His wife works as a high school guidance counselor.
He graduated with a bachelor of arts degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1999 and a master’s in 2005.
Waters taught at the high school level until 2005 when he moved into administration where he has been an assistant and principal at all levels.
The public is invited to attend this reception and meet the new superintendent and his family.
