It was like a mission out of “Grand Theft Auto” as a driver struck a vehicle outside Bowie, fled into the city, crashed, stole a vehicle, fled into Wise County, crashed again, stole another vehicle and eventually ended up being arrested after a high speed chase into Fort Worth early Monday morning.
Bowie Police were called at 5:50 a.m. on Monday about a hit and run accident near American Hat Company on U.S. 81 north of the city. Police Chief Guy Green said the sheriff’s office reported a vehicle had rear-ended a pickup that was pulling a trailer, but had fled the scene heading toward Bowie.
The suspect was later identified as Colt Slate, 28, from Duncan, OK who was reportedly in a stolen vehicle.

He then crashed at the school bus barn at Old Wise Road and U.S. 81, where he stole the pickup of a man who stopped to help, fled the scene only to crash again at the Wise County line and steal another vehicle before going on a high speed chase that ended in Fort Worth.
