Montague County Commissioners extended the ban on outdoor burning Monday morning for at least the next 30 days.
The court followed up on the emergency burn ban issued by County Judge Kevin Benton on Jan. 4, which would have expired Jan. 14. Benton suggested going out 30 days based on the drought index and the ongoing fire hazard, at which point the court can review where things are at that point.
Commissioner Bob Langford told Benton he appreciated him going forward with the emergency order since it is still so dry and made the motion to extend. All the court approved. Commissioner Mark Murphey was absent Monday.
