Oil field fire outside Nocona injures workers

A Bowie oilfield worker was seriously injured in a fire on Thursday. The Nocona Rural Volunteer Fire Department and Nocona EMS responded at 4:03 p.m. on Brookmole Road west of Nocona. Fire officials found a hot oil truck and a well servicing machine had caught fire. The well did not catch fire. As of Friday it was unclear what started the fire. Jerry Don Manness, 51, was transported to Medical City Plano via helicopter with significant burns. His family reported Friday he was stable with third degree burns on 25% of his body and the threat of infection. The driver had minor injuries.
