New Gold-Burg High School head boys basketball coach Danny Pruett has served as a longtime assistant in many sports across the state of Texas.
Pruett is ecstatic about having the chance to put his own mark on a scholastic sports program.
“I’m very excited, and just looking forward to it,” Pruett said. “We are going to work things the way I want to do it.
“I believe you do whatever the game dictates,” he continued. “I’d like to get out and run, but the main thing is to control the ball. If the ball isn’t in the opponents hands, they can’t score.”
Pressure will be the name of the game, and he expects athletes to play at “105 miles per hour, but under control.”
Pruett said the Bears should have a great deal of quickness, just from judging the athletes on the football field.
Most recently, Pruett worked for the Petrolia Independent School District as a junior high basketball coach and he also assisted with the football team. Read more from this story in the weekend edition of The Bowie News.
