STORM CENTER COLUMN: Manziel finally does right thing

Sherman, Peabody here, please set the Wayback Machine to the 2014 National Football League Draft which took place at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
Now we’re here at the Dallas Cowboys table, and I see them deciding between then Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel and an offensive lineman from Notre Dame in Zack Martin.
Sherman, it looks like they are sending the card up to the podium, and let’s see who the Cowboys pick.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell reads, “With the 16th pick in the first round of the NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys select Zack Martin.”
Sherman, this is a case where a team doesn’t need revisionist history. The Cowboys made the right pick, and it was Martin.
Sure, the sports editor was creative there.
But, honestly, Dallas picking Martin over Manziel, the former Kerrville Tivy product, appears better and better all the time.
Manziel, who plays for the Cleveland Browns, checked himself into an inpatient rehabilitation center on Wednesday for his possible dependence on alcohol.
I’m rooting for Manziel to come clean. I hope he takes the rehabilitation process seriously and becomes a better man and quarterback for it.
Addiction to alcohol or drugs can lead to health issues, problems making or sustaining relationships, and the inability to retain gainful employment, according to the website: www.recovery.org. Read more of this column in the weekend Bowie News.
