Spring rains help boost lake levels slightly

Published

on

March rains helped the local lake levels rise a small bit, but much more is needed to pull the lakes out of the massive drought.

For the Bowie area, the last two weeks of rain boosted Lake Amon Carter enough to push water customers out of stage two mandatory water restrictions, back to state one voluntary restrictions.

The lake surpassed the 913 msl over the weekend attaining 56.8 percent of its capacity, which allowed the stage change. As of Wednesday Lake Amon Carter was at 913.34 msl, compared to March 1 when the level was 912.09 msl. Read the full story on this week’s rain in the Saturday News.
