Break in eight-inch water main shuts down water in Glen Hills Addition
City of Bowie water crews were up to their necks in water over the weekend repairing a break in an eight-inch line on Roy Street. The break occurred late Saturday night. After finding the hole and clamping it off, the line blew out on the other side, eventually leading to the replacement of nearly 12 feet of line. Homes in the Glen Hills Addition encompassing sections of Decatur, Clay, Wilbarger Streets were without water until early Monday when the line was turned back on. Jerry Sutton, water plant manager, said a boil order was put into place until the final testing of the line could be completed at 4 p.m. Tuesday. Three days of tests are required before the order can be lifted. The order was lifted Tuesday once testing cleared. They were trying to clean up Monday, but the dirt was so damp it was difficult to move. (Photo by Barbara Green)
