HIGH SCHOOL TENNIS: Bowie, Nocona compete in WF

The Bowie and Nocona High School tennis teams competed in the Tioga Invitational on March 24 and March 26 last week.
The meet took place in Wichita Falls.
For Bowie, Clayton Ogg was the boys’ singles consolation champion while Maria Gonzalez and Cameron Gunter claimed the top spot in varsity mixed doubles.
Katelin Price earned second in the varsity girls’ singles division. Teammate Marcela Sanchez was third in the JV girls’ singles division.
Bowie did very well in the JV girls’ doubles division – taking all four spots.
In the junior varsity girls’ division, Jessie Roth and Carcyn Robertson earned first, Ana DeLeon and Chelsie Tompkins second, Lauren Gill and Sophie Brown third and Hailey Mothershead and Ashton Talamantes fourth.
For Nocona, Parker Marshall and Tres Howard finished fourth in varsity boys’ doubles. Mason Murphey competed for the Indians in varsity boys’ singles.
Lexi Malone was the JV girls’ singles consolation champion. Read more in the mid-week Bowie News.

Prairie Valley Sports Awards

Prairie Valley hosted its high school awards banquet on May 9. The O.C. Mann Award went to Josh Stout and Linzie Priddy.

Gold-Burg High School hosted its awards banquet on May 22. The Gold-Burg Iron Bear Awards went to Eli Freeland-White for boy athlete and Hallie Nelson for girl athlete.

Richey headed to National Finals

Bowie’s Cason Richey (right) and his horse Hello Lashes, qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo this month. Richey competes in team roping as a part of the Texas Tech University rodeo team as a freshman. The CNFR is scheduled for June 15-21 at Casper, WY.
