Finally, the Nocona High School baseball and softball teams played actual district home games this season.
Nocona’s baseball team evened its record in District 3A-9 with a 5-2 victory over City View, while softball suffered a 9-7 setback.
Despite the hot bat of Karlie Pepper, who belted two triples in the game, Nocona’s comeback bid fell short in the seventh inning.
“The offense had plenty of hits,” said Lady Indian coach Jon Shaw. “I’ve been pleased with how the offense has been coming along.”
After Pepper’s first triple in the third inning brought home Claire Walker, the comeback began as Nocona outscored their opponent in each of the next three innings, including bringing the game to 8-7 deficit after a three-run performance in the sixth. Read more, and see the complete box score, in the mid-week Bowie News.
