OUTDOORS: Become a Ranger at academy
The third annual Citizen’s Park Ranger Academy will take place this April at Dinosaur Valley State Park in rural Glen Rose.
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department has the citizen’s academy as a way to help Texas residents better understand local state parks.
Park staff will serve as class instructors.
Students will meet from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday from April 9 to 30. Enrollees also will spend time at Cleburne State Park.
Interested people must be at least 15 years old (without parent consent) to participate, and be prepared to engage in physically demanding activities such as lifting, hiking and crawling.
Youngsters ages 13 to 15 may participate as well; but a parent must be present. Read the March 16 Bowie News for more.
