BOWIE SCHOOL BOARD

Bowie Independent School District Trustees will meet at 5:30 p.m. on June 20 in the board room at 100 West Wichita.

Action items include consideration of band hall lockers at the junior high and other details on summer facility projects, plus an outside audit engagement letter and the Claims Administrative Services Contract agreement.

An executive session is scheduled to consider personnel items.

Superintendent Steven Monkres will report on teacher and principal evaluation policies, assessment and accountability survey; facilities and Texas Association of School Board nominations.

All four campus principals will bring their monthly reports, along with the curriculum and finance officials.

Finance Director Jonathan Pastusek also will conduct a budget workshop.

GOLD-BURG SCHOOL BOARD

Trustees of the Gold-Burg Independent School District will meet at 7 p.m. on June 20 in Stoneburg.

In action items the board will call an election for Nov. 8 with three places open on the board. Those spots are presently filled by Becky Case, Lynn Allen and Snake Allen.

This will be the first year for the school district to conduct elections in the fall instead of the traditional spring. Earlier this year the district voted to move the date to coordinate with county elections, which can save money.

The 2016 audit engagement letter will be considered, along with the student code of conduct for the next school year.

Signage options related to the district security program that would allow certain approved staff members to carry concealed handguns also will be discussed.

Numerous budgetary items will be on the agenda including a budget workshop and a review of the staff salary schedule for 2016-17.

A contract for new Principal Jay Johnson also will be examined. Superintendent Roger Ellis said Johnson was given a probationary contract until the board could act on an officials contract and finalize compensation.

In the superintendent’s report Ellis will discuss the delay of STAAR test results, summer school, transfer student denials, coming events and the hiring of a new head basketball coach.

NOCONA SCHOOL BOARD

Trustees of the Nocona Independent School District will meet at 7:30 p.m. June 20 in the NISD board room at 220 Clay.

Numerous annual policies and items will be addressed by the board including the hiring scheduled for 2016-17, property and vehicle insurance, student and athlete accident insurance, credit recovery policy, low attendance waivers, grading policy and a proposed policy for student welfare wellness and health services.

Superintendent Dr. Vickie Gearheart will discuss projected enrollment for the next school year.

The school health advisory committee will offer the minutes of the annual report.

An executive session is scheduled for personnel mattes and to consider the possible approval of rescission of proposed non-renewal of the term contract of Steven Phillips’s 2015-16 term contract. Phillips is a high school special education teacher.

SAINT JO SCHOOL BOARD

Trustees of the Saint Jo Independent School District will meet in regular session at 6:30 p.m. on June 21 in the school library.

Superintendent Larry Smith will report on the newly formed education foundation, construction of the agriculture barn, a letter from Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and the election calendar, which will call a vote for Nov. 8.

The 2016-17 budget for the Montague County Tax Appraisal District will be presented by Chief Appraiser Kim Haralson.

Other items on the agenda will include adoption of Texas Association of School Board policy updates; Claims Administrative Services Worker’s Compensation Agreement; transfer students list; waiver of penalty and interest and changes and corrections to the tax rolls.

An executive session is scheduled for personnel items including the evaluation and contract of the new superintendent, hiring of professional personnel to be assigned, resignations and new hires.
