LOCAL: Cross country uniforms needed, coaches say

The Bowie Athletic Boosters met on Monday with a broad array of topics up for discussion.
Junior high school cross country coach Diane Weber discussed the possibility of purchasing new uniforms to replace outdated ones.
Oftentimes, the junior high school cross country and track and field teams are seen wearing mismatched sets at athletic contests.
Weber was quoted prices for three different brands of uniforms, with prices ranging from $26 to $40 per set based on brand. The cheapest set comes with an anthracite color, and it’s unclear if the school board would accept that color.
Booster club member Koni Jones questioned why bids aren’t accepted from more than one supplier.
Bowie High School cross country coaches Chuck Hall and Doug Boxell are expected to be present at the next meeting slated for 6 p.m. on Aug. 29 to continue discussions – meaning the booster club hasn’t taken action yet.
The junior high season will begin on Sept. 10 at the Shade Tree Run in Muenster. The high school season starts on Sept. 1 at Burkburnett.
It was reported Nicole Jordan will take over as the cheerleading coach and sponsor when Tabatha Jones goes on maternity leave. Read more in the Aug. 24 Bowie News.
