75-year-old takes to the skies

Published

on

Elizabeth Winton fulfilled a dream seven decades in the making when she took to the skies in the seat of a Cessna C-210 airplane that took off from Bowie Municipal Airport on June 24.

The flight was the first on a list of experiences the 75-year-old grandmother has always wanted to fulfill.

“Flying has always been on my mind. I also wanted to go on a hot-air balloon ride and skydive,” said Winton. “I’ve never thought of it as a bucket list, but I guess it kind of is.”

Soaring in the clouds has been a wish of hers since she was just three- years-old, watching World War II planes returning home to Perrin Air Force Base in Bonham while on a trip with her parents.
