Local volunteers gathering more hurricane relief supplies

Published

on

A new round of supplies are being collected for hurricane victims in south Texas.
Vicki Riley, one of the Bowie organizers for hurricane relief, said the volunteers will be taking donations at the old NAPA building at 203 Smythe Street in Bowie from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 7.
At this point the needed supplies focus on cleaning items for inside and outside.
Tools for outside will include things like scoop shovels, rakes, tree and shrub trimmers. Other items may be heavy-duty trash bags, mosquito and bug spray, fans, rubber gloves, masks, rubber boots, work gloves and similar items.
They will not be accepting diapers (adult or child), clothing or shoes.
There also has been a call for school supplies and a need for easy open nonperishable food.
These supplies will be going to Orange County. Call Riley at 841-4365 with any questions.

Read more on this story and where the supplies will be delivered in the mid-week News.
