Gold-Burg to receive fiber optic lines

Gold-Burg Independent School District received the good news it will receive $272,500 in funding that will provide fiber optic lines to improve the district’s web connectivity.
Trustees met Monday night and learned of the acceptance of the Texas Classroom Connectivity Special Construction State Match funds for the E-rate project. Comcell is the contractor handling the construction for the district that will lay about 10 miles of lines from Ringgold to Gold-Burg.

Sirens went off in the City of Bowie shortly before 3 p.m. A tornado warning continues in the area of Lake Amon Carter, Fruitland and Sunset, be in your safe spot. A funnel was reportedly wrapped in the rain.

Early voting for May 2 Nocona General board election ends April 28

Early voting for the Nocona General Hospital District Board of Directors saw 285 voters cast their ballot during the first week of early voting.
Ballots may be cast early through April 28. Election day is May 2, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. All voting is in the Nocona City County room at 102 Clay Street.
Candidates include two incumbents, Charles May and Ron Brown. De Brown, who had filed for re-election, later withdrew. Steve Bates and Shawn Patton are the other candidates. Three seats are open on the board.
