Red Bull Air Race to be held at TMSW
Texas Motor Speedway has been chosen as the venue that will play host to the 2018 season finale of the Red Bull Air Race World Championship on Nov. 17-18 inside the world-renowned motorsports facility.
The visit to Fort Worth will be the eighth and final stop for the international air racing series that began the season in February in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates and ultimately will compete in seven different countries. The series will visit Russia (Aug. 25-26), Austria (Sept. 15-16) and Indianapolis (Oct. 6-7) before deciding the championship in the season finale at TMSW.
“This is probably the most unique event we have ever hosted,” Texas Motor Speedway President Eddie Gossage said. “You sit in the stands and look down to see the airplanes race around and through the pylons. We appreciate Red Bull Air Race’s faith in us by awarding the 2018 championship race to Texas Motor Speedway.”
Texas Motor Speedway is quite familiar with the Red Bull Air Race World Championship as the venue hosted events in September of 2014 and again in ’15. However, this will mark the first time the speedway plays host to the season finale.
The Red Bull Air Race features the world’s best racing pilots in a pure motorsport competition that combines speed, precision and skill. Using the fastest, most agile, lightweight race planes, pilots reach speeds of 230 miles per hour as they navigate a low-level, slalom track featuring 82-foot-high, air-filled pylons.
The objective is to navigate the aerial race layout in the fastest possible time while incurring as few penalties as possible. Pilots earn championship points at each of the eight stops with the world champion being crowned during the season finale at Texas Motor Speedway. Tickets for the season finale weekend at Texas Motor Speedway are available by visiting www.redbullairrace.com. Jacksboro defeats Lady Rabbit VB, 3-1
Bowie, playing on a short rest, held with host Jacksboro for most of the volleyball match Oct. 1, but the Tigerettes pulled away late and defeated the Lady Rabbits 3-1 (26-24, 12-25, 25-14, 22-25).
The match was scheduled for Oct. 2 but was moved. Both teams are now 2-2 in District 6-3A.
Jacksboro got out to a quick lead in game one before Olivia Stewart’s kill and a three-point Olivia Richey serving run put the visitors up 8-7. Junior Abby Reneau broke things open with a six-point string to give Bowie a 15-8 cushion and force Jacksboro into a timeout.
The Tigerettes came back and took an 18-16 lead. KP Rutherford’s kill broke the serve and allowed Molly Enlow to tie the game at 18.

Gold-Burg gives it a go, falls to Perrin 35-32
Gold-Burg Football Coach Austin Norman called his Bears’ 35-32 loss to host Perrin a “barn burner”.
It most definitely was as Gold-Burg, now 1-5 for the year gave the 5-1 Pirates everything they wanted for four quarters. Gold-Burg scored on the last play of the first half on a Peyton Epperson run with the two point conversion cutting the deficit to 20-16.
The Bears were their own worst enemy to open the third quarter with face mask and offside penalties moving the Pirates downfield setting up a first-and-goal at the Bear three. Defense by Epperson, Keelyn Case and Barrett Allen and a pair of Perrin penalties helped stop the drive and force a turnover on downs.
Gold-Burg was slapped with an intentional grounding penalty on the first play, giving Perrin a safety and extending the Pirate lead to 22-16. Defense by Epperson and JoJuan Grace after a first down run closed out the third quarter.
