Upper Trinity hearing Thursday

The Upper Trinity Groundwater Conservation District will have its Montague County public hearing on proposed changes to the district’s permanent rules at 2 p.m. on Nov. 15 at the Bowie Community Center.
Some of the rules changes will include an expanded minimum for a well moving up to five acres, and the commercial users and public water systems will go from a registration to a permit system. There also are aquifer management measures to assist in meeting the “desired future conditions,” enforcement policy and penalty schedule, administrative and civil penalties for a violation, classification of wells and requirements for each, requirements for permits and application requirements and well metering, fees and reporting requirements for registered or permitted wells.
The district will have a public hearing in conjunction with the board’s regular meeting at 4 p.m. on Nov. 19. It will be at the district office, 1859 West Highway 199, Springtown.
