Members of the Bowie Lions Club will be out in the community on March 23 for the annual “Lions White Cane Day.”
Contributions are solicited that day from the public to support two major sight and conservation projects of the club.
First, funds are required to support the efforts to provide eye exams and eye glasses for needy children in the public schools. Second, the district 2E-1 Lions Tissue and Eye Bank serves a 24-county area collecting and distributing eye and tissue for transplant purposes throughout the world.
Watch for Lions in their gold vests in front of Brookshire’s in Bowie Plaza and Walmart, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. They will be accepting your old eyeglasses, which are refurbished and used by someone in need or recycled, as well as any donations to help these projects.
