Cruisin’ Nocona, Vicari Auctions mark seventh year

Cruisin’ Nocona and the Vicari Car Auction return to Nocona May 2-4 for the seventh annual event that brings three days of fun in the Car Capital of Texas.
The fun begins on May 2 with a 90-mile cruise of cars through the “north Texas hill country.” The drive starts in Nocona at the Justin Building at 101 Clay Street.
Watch the start-up of the cruise with up to 100 cars expected. This is a poker run and the cruisers will turn in their poker cards at the corner of Main and Oak Street in Nocona when they arrive back in town. First prize is $1,000 for the poker run, $500 for second and $250 for third. Read the full story in the weekend News.

Bowie, Nocona libraries wrap up summer reading this week

Local libraries wrap up their children’s summer reading programs this week.
The Bowie Public Library brings the popular Creature Teacher with all their spectacular animals for the final event on July 23 at the Bowie Community Center.
The program begins at 10 am. The children also will receive their prize books for their summer logs.
The Nocona Public Library ends its program at 10 a.m. on July 24 at the H.J. Justin Building at 100 Clay Street. The program will be “Our Own Action Heroes -” Nocona fire, police and EMTs.
