Montague County Appraisal District presents its budgets

County and area taxing entities have received the proposed 2019-20 budgets for the Montague County Tax Appraisal District with several already approving the documents.
Kim Haralson, chief appraiser, made the recent presentation to the city of Bowie and the county commissioner’s court noting a .48 percent increase in the appraisal budget and no increase in the tax collections budget. Both entities gave their approval to the budgets.
The appraisal district budget touches every taxing entity in the county and a few of the neighboring counties where school districts or watersheds extend. The MCTAD is responsible for appraising all property in the county and related overlapping districts. Read the full story in the weekend Bowie News.

Bowie Council meeting cancelled

The regular meeting of the Bowie City Council for July 22 has been cancelled. City Manager Bert Cunningham and Mayor Gaylynn Burris will be attending the Texas Public Power Association conference.

City staff examines new generators for water plant

City of Bowie officials were on hand to inspect the emergency electrical generators that were delivered last week.
Mayor Gaylynn Burris and City Manager Bert Cunningham inspected one of three emergency electrical generators purchased as part of an ongoing Federal Emergency Management Agency Hazard Mitigation Grant. They also talked with Jay Evans, head of the city electric department, and Jerry Sutton, director of the water treatment plant about the next step for installation of the generators.
This grant provides funding for one 150 kW and two 250 kW generators for use at the water treatment plant.
