Rotary launches Happy Feet

The Bowie Rotary Club, Bowie Mission and Patterson of Bowie are teaming up to support the Bowie Rotary Happy Feet Program.
Kory Hooks, managing partner of Patterson’s of Bowie spoke to the Rotary Club about his business, and why supporting projects and organizations like Rotary are so vital to our communities.
This year Patterson of Bowie is joining Bowie Rotary Club’s efforts to support the Happy Feet Program at the Bowie Mission.
Each year the Bowie Rotary Club’s raises funds to purchase new shoes for children at the beginning of the school year. This year Patterson of Bowie will donate $30 for each car sold in July.
The Bowie Mission will facilitate the purchase of a pair of shoes for needed children in Bowie.
Bowie Rotary members are very excited about this new effort and will let you know how many pairs of shoes will be donated from Patterson’s car sales in July. Bowie Rotary Club will have the Happy Feet Golf Tournament that not only supports the Happy Feet Program, but other projects in the club. The tournament will begin at 8 a.m. on Aug. 3.

JBD Bass Tournament postponed

Due to high lake levels at Lake Amon G. Carter, the Jim Bowie Days Association organizers announced Friday the tournament has been postponed and a new date will be named soon.

AgriLife Extension hosting preserving the harvest workshop

Texas AgriLife Extension will host a July workshop on July 26, Preserving the Harvest, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church of Montague County, 300 W. Nelson.
This four-part series will teach and review the food preservation processes including water bathing, pickling, dehydrating and pressure canning. This program will have both education and hands-on activities with take-home practice.
Seating is limited so call the extension office to register at 894-4831.

Cantwell to lead Pioneer Court

The 2025 Pioneer Court will be led by Joan Cantwell as the pioneer queen, with Duchesses Bill Ann Jones and Sue Swint.
A coronation of the court will be at 2:30 p.m. on June 27 at the Bowie Community Center. The public is invited to attend the crowning followed by a reception hosted by the Amity Club of Bowie.
