Gold-Burg ISD Trustees consider proposed rate

Published

on

Gold-Burg Independent School District Trustees met this week reviewing the budget and considering proposed tax rates for 2019-2020.
Superintendent Roger Ellis said it appears the district will be able to work with a balanced budget, but the state also is still interpreting the new school finance rules so there could be additional changes.
“I think we will be able to include the new vehicle purchase to replace the Suburban. I am not happy about not being able to put a little aside for emergencies, but we generally run a tight budget anyway,” said Ellis.
The board has proposed a .97 cent maintenance and operation rate and a .09 cent interest and sinking rate. The .97 cent rate is the limit set through Senate Bill 1 as the legislation compressed the previous rate limit of $1.04 per $100 in property value. Read the full story in your weekend Bowie News.
