Bowie
The Bowie Lady Rabbits hosted a tough Aubrey team on Friday.
After two straight wins against easier competition, the Lady Rabbits lost to the Chaparrals 3-1.
Bowie won the first set in a tightly contested manner 25-23. Unfortunately, the Lady Rabbits followed it up with a lackluster second set as Aubrey won 25-13 to tie the match.
The next two sets that followed could have gone either team’s way as both final scores were won by the smallest of margins. It was Bowie who came out wrong in both as the Chaparrals won both sets 25-23 to win the match.
It was another tough match that did not break right for the Lady Rabbits. With only two games to play until district play kicks off on Sept. 28, Bowie will need to take the right lessons from these games to make sure it will not cost them when games start to count.
The Lady Rabbits play at Celina at 6 p.m. on Sept. 20 for their final non-district match.

Saint Jo
The Saint Jo Lady Panthers opened district play on Friday at home against Tioga in not the best form.
The Lady Panthers lost to the Lady Bulldogs in straight sets in a game Coach Charlie Hamilton did not think her players were ready for.
“We were mentally not ready for the strong players they had,” Hamilton said. “We also played very nervous. I think next time will be a different outcome when we play them again. We are working through a lot of nerves.”
The set scores were 25-22, 25-14 and 25-19. Paityn Holly led the team with five kills and two blocks. Hannah Reyling had four kills and three aces while Kaitline Harris had 13 assists and Kassidy Pitman had nine digs.
Saint Jo next plays at Lindsay at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

Forestburg
The Forestburg Lady Horns went to Alvord on Friday to begin district play.
The Lady Horns lost in straight sets to the Lady Bulldogs. The set scores were 25-16, 25-11 and 25-17.
Katie Willett led the team with five kills while adding six digs. Katelyn Park led the team with five assists and Athena Britain led the team with 10 digs.
Coach Cori Hayes said the team has changed up its style recently. With mostly tough 2A schools in Forestburg’s district, the road ahead is tough.
The Lady Horns next play at Valley View at 5 p.m. on Sept. 24.

Gold-Burg
The Gold-Burg Lady Bears opened district play Saturday morning at home against Petrolia.
While the Lady Bears lost in straight sets to the Lady Pirates, with scores of 25-16, 25-15 and 25-16, Coach Cheryl Cromleigh liked the way her team was playing against a tough opponent.
“The girls really stepped it up,” Cromleigh said. “They were saving balls all over the place, blocking, jousting at the net, hitting extremely well with super long rallies. This was a great match for them against a really great team. So very much improved.”
Gold-Burg next hosts Archer City at 10 a.m. on Sept. 21.
