HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL: Graford edges Prairie Valley

The Prairie Valley High School girls’ basketball team gave Graford a good game in non-district action on Tuesday.
Brooklyn Messer banked a 3-pointer to cut the Lady Rabbits lead to 40-36 with 1 minute, 48 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.
Prairie Valley had chances to make the score even closer, but the Lady Bulldogs were unable to do so and Graford recorded a 42-36 victory.
Prairie Valley head coach Jeanie Carpenter said this was the best the team had played all season, despite the loss.
“We played hard,” Carpenter said. “These girls scrapped it out for four long quarters. We have improved on defense, and are fouling less. That’s great considering most games there is no one on the bench.”
The Bulldog offense produced 36 points, keyed by 19 from Alley Roof. Read more, and see the complete box score, in the weekend Bowie News.
