NATIONAL FINALS RODEO: Cooper triumphs

Tuf Cooper, a native of Decatur, became a three-time world champion in tie-down roping at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.
Cooper earned $241,734, and he was the NFR aggregate champion with a time of 89.7 seconds over 10 rounds.
Trevor Brazile, a team roper from Decatur, ended up second in the world standings with $210,315 and runner-up in the aggregate race with a time of 93.10 for 10 rounds.
In barrel racing, Fallon Taylor of Whitesboro claimed her first gold buckle.
Taylor earned $276,441 in the world standings.
Bull rider Sage Kimzey, who competed on the college level at Southwestern Oklahoma State, clinched the world championship by round eight.
Kimzey ended up with $318,631 and a score of 671 for eight rides. He was the lone rider to cover eight of his 10 bulls and only one of seven bull riders ever to win four rounds at one NFR.
Kimzey became just the second bull rider to win the world championship during his rookie season, joining Bill Kornell, who pulled off the feat in 1963.
Other winners were Spencer Wright in the saddle bronc contest, Kaycee Feild in bareback riding, Luke Branquinho in steer wrestling and Clay Tryan and Jade Corkill won their first-ever gold buckle in the team roping.
Brazile and Travis Graves placed second.
