HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Press honors Bowie’s Monkres

Bowie High School’s Josh Monkres was named an all-state honorable mention for The Associated Press Conference 3A team.
The announcement was made on Monday.
Bowie head coach Dylan Stark said Monkres played both right tackle and center for the Jackrabbits this season.
“He (Josh) was very unselfish coming into this season,” Stark said of Monkres move from fullback to the offensive line.
“He has good feet and moves well for his size,” Stark added. “We’re excited for Josh to have this high honor and have him back for one more season.”
The Jackrabbits went 2-8 this season, winning its season and district finale over Paradise. Bowie also defeated Lake Worth in 2014.
Monkres was also a first-team all-district offensive lineman.
There are other regional players of note on the Conference 3A all-state team – including Cisco offensive lineman Baily Edwards, Holliday defensive tackle Matthew Tigert, Cisco defensive back Kotie Hoover, City View’s Deon’Tray Jordan and Ronny Killen and Henrietta’s Logan Carter.
