Teens sharing explicit pics, videos worries police

Many years ago before the advent of the digital age young teens often shared their curiosity about naked people by sneaking a look at their dad’s Playboy hidden in the closet. Things have certainly changed as explicit images of all types can be shared with the click of a button on a phone or other electronic device.
A recent string of unrelated complaints of distributing pornographic images has Bowie Police concerned enough to encourage parents to talk to their children about receiving, sending and saving these types of images, also called “nudes” on their devices whether it be a phone, tablet, laptop or desktop.
Lt. Randy Hanson said Thursday within the last six weeks they have dealt with five separate cases involving this type of complaint.

The regular meeting of the Bowie City Council for July 22 has been cancelled. City Manager Bert Cunningham and Mayor Gaylynn Burris will be attending the Texas Public Power Association conference.
City of Bowie officials were on hand to inspect the emergency electrical generators that were delivered last week.
Mayor Gaylynn Burris and City Manager Bert Cunningham inspected one of three emergency electrical generators purchased as part of an ongoing Federal Emergency Management Agency Hazard Mitigation Grant. They also talked with Jay Evans, head of the city electric department, and Jerry Sutton, director of the water treatment plant about the next step for installation of the generators.
This grant provides funding for one 150 kW and two 250 kW generators for use at the water treatment plant.
