There will be a bird watch at Lake Arrowhead beginning at 8 a.m. on Jan. 10.
The walk lasts one hour, covering about one mile.
Normal park entry fees will apply for the bird watch.The fee is $3 for adults, and children 12 years old and under are admitted free.

Biggest Loser starts Monday 

The 2nd Annual Biggest Loser Contest starts at 6 p.m. on Jan. 5 at the Bowie Community Center.
Weigh-in will be at 6 p.m., followed by the motivational speech at 6:30 p.m.
The contest will run from Jan. 5 to Feb. 27.
The cost to enter is $25.
There will be awards for the first- and second-place finishers. The amount of prize money will be dependent on the number of participants.
Last year, more than 700 pounds were shed as part of the contest.
