The Forestburg Longhorns and Lady Horns were presented with big tasks Friday evening as they played host to Bellevue.
It ended up a split night as Forestburg claimed the girls’ game by a count of 46-24 while Bellevue, ranked 17th in the latest Texas Association of Basketball Coaches poll, won the boys’ contest 75-43.
In the girls’ game, Bellevue looked a bit off, which Forestburg was able to take advantage of in the Lady Horns’ victory.
“We played some awesome defense against a good team,” said Lady Horns coach Rosana Barbosa.
The defense held Bellevue to only four points in two quarters, allowing nine at the most.
“They really were tough on defense,” said Bellevue coach Bryan Goehring. “Their pressure made us pretty uncomfortable. And they were able to knock down more shots than us.”
Hope Phipps led Forestburg to the win with 12 points, eight rebounds ,one block and one steal.
